Our Skunk Works Department specializes in creating unconventional surveillance solutions that push the boundaries of security technology.
Our Skunk Works Department produces things like bait batteries, bait trailers, trailcams on steroids, Pelican case methanol fuel-cells, long-range battery powered motion sensors, and other out-of-the-ordinary surveillance solutions. The surveillance platform disguised as a Porta-Potty for instance, is ideal for those sites where the client prefers apprehending or identifying the culprit, versus scaring off the intruder. This solution is also ideal for obtaining valuable closeup descriptors of protesters ignoring court injunctions and breaking the law. The shell has been reinforced with an interior rugged frame and the door has been reinforced and secured by a hidden locking mechanism.
The “Porta-Potty” is ideal for protecting residential construction sites and commercial/industrial yards. The unit is equipped with four exterior very low-profile image sensors which can be either visible-light or thermal. The vents have been replaced with plastic panels that can be individually and remotely lowered to expose one or all three interior-mounted mini-PTZ cameras, that can then zoom-in on the subject of interest and obtain the desired descriptors. This discreet surveillance platform can be grid-powered with standby batteries or be completely self-contained with a methanol fuel-cell and is suitable for all seasons. The video monitoring is achieved through either Wi-Fi, cellular or satellite gateways.
Many remote and isolated energy sites depend on solar power and standby batteries for their operations, and thieves frequently target these sites for the few dollars that a stolen battery will earn them. So we’ve designed a variety of bait batteries to help our clients overcome this problem. The batteries look and weigh the same as a real battery, but contain a concealed and monitored GPS unit that will alert our monitoring station when moved. The batteries are made to look like older discarded batteries and are positioned near the actual battery cabinet to act as an easy prey for the thieves. The idea is to then alert the authorities once the stolen items leave the site as this may well lead to other stolen items when the thieves return to their base.
Losing a trailer by theft can be a painful and business-disrupting event and unfortunately this type of thing happens too often. So, much like our bait batteries, we’ve come up with a solution to help our clients. What could be more enticing to a thief than a nice flat-deck trailer with a quad ATV sitting on top, The trailers are equipped with multiple GPS units so that if one is discovered and discarded, the others will take over. In some cases, we can even capture the license plate of the criminal’s vehicle as the bait trailer is being hitched or while in transit. We then notify the proper authorities in real-time, so that they can potentially recover other stolen items once the thieves return to their base.
